Preview – workshop: Polish-German-Jewish relations in contemporary media: narratives and stereotypes
Over time, is the media changing the way it portrays the complex relationships between the Polish, German and Jewish communities, or are they reproducing the same stereotypes and patterns and even conspiracy theories? How has the proliferation of social media influenced the development of this narrative?
We invite anyone seeking answers to these questions to a workshop entitled. “Polish-German-Jewish relations in contemporary media: narratives and stereotypes”. The workshop will be led by: Karolina Placzynta from the Centre for Research on Anti-Semitism [ZfA] of the Technical University of Berlin.
The meeting will take place on 8 November at 10.00 in the conference room of the US Historical Institute.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to analyse contemporary examples from national and regional media, to place them in a historical context, and to reflect on the potential impact of media on community relations and the memory of historical events.
The workshop takes place as part of the workshop series of the INT 198 project entitled “Jewish life in Pomerania in the memory of Germans and Poles”. You are cordially invited!
