The Museum of Archaeology and History in Stargard was established in 1960 and it is a self-governing cultural institution of Stargard. Its seat is the Guardroom, two historic townhouses located in the Old Market and the “Basteja”, which houses a modern exhibition about the history of the town. The multi-centre museum specialises in doing research in the region of Stargard and Pomerania and collects archaeological and historical exhibits. The Museum is also a publisher which aims to publish the results of archaeological and historical research in e.g. Stargardia year-book and the Archeologia Stargardu (Archaeology of Stargard) series.
