Meeting with Professor Edward Rymar entitled “Barnim I – Prince of the breakthrough” – announcement

Ladies and Gentlemen, we would like to invite you on 7 December at 12:00 to the Historical Institute US (ul. Krakowska 71-79, room 067 – conference room) for an open scientific meeting, during which a meeting with Prof. Edward Rymar* entitled “Barnim I – Prince of the Turning Point” will be held. The meeting is devoted to this outstanding ruler of Pomerania, who, during his half-century-long reign, led his country into an era of civilisational change. Hence his reign is regarded as a watershed – a time of transition in the process of organisation and establishment of the state, which departed from the model built in the early Middle Ages and became a fully formed entity with separate states, a fully developed European culture, when the long-lasting process of Christianisation and incorporation of the area into Western European civilisation came to a close.
This event is organised on the occasion of the publication of the latest monograph on the Prince by Professor Edward Rymar, published by the Avalon Publishing House, entitled: “Barnim I, Duke of Slavs in Pomerania (ca. 1220/21 – 1278)”. This is the first biography of Barnim I, Duke of Western Pomerania, on the Polish publishing market.
The meeting takes place in a series of workshops entitled. “Perspectives on border region studies in Szczecin” as part of our project. This time we reach out to the borderlands of the medieval civilisation worlds.

    * Prof. Edward Rymar, historian, medievalist, outstanding expert on the history of the New March and Pomerania.
