International conference “In the Castle, in the Monastery, in the Town. The Culture of the Baltic World in the Middle Ages and Modern Times”

On 9-11 June 2022, the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies US in Kulice hosted an international scientific conference ‘In the Castle, in the Monastery, in the Town. The Culture of the Baltic World in the Middle Ages and Modern Times’, organised by the staff of the Historical Institute US, Prof. Marcin Majewski and Dr. Rafał Simiński. The event was attended by speakers and guests from Poland, Germany, Canada, Lithuania and the United Kingdom. The papers delivered by historians, archaeologists and art historians dealt with topics concerning the spiritual and material culture of the Baltic Sea area in the period from the 9th to the 16th century. There was no shortage of lively scientific discussions held during the conference, as well as social talks held in the beautiful surroundings of the kulice palace. The culmination of the proceedings was an excursion to Dobra, Marianowo and Stargard, where the session participants had the opportunity to admire monuments connected with the medieval and modern past of Western Pomerania. It is worth noting the very active participation of US students in the event, and not only historians. Check out the photo report on FB.
