On Saturday afternoon (1 October), a tour of the manors and palaces of the von Bismarck family concluded the three-day (29.09.-01.10.2022) conference entitled. “The Bismarcks. Discourse(s) on the European family” / “The Bismarcks. Discourse(s) on the European family’. The event, coordinated by Dr Paweł Migdalski (Historical Institute US) and Prof Bartosz Wójcik (Institute of Literature and New Media US), was not only a reference to the former conferences devoted to the Bismarck family and organised in Kulice, but also in a way a tribute to the doyens of the Szczecin milieu – Prof Włodzimierz Stępiński and Prof Edward Włodarczyk, who devoted many years of their work to this era. The event, which attracted a great deal of interest from the community, featured presentations by a number of researchers from Poland (Jerzy Kałążny (Institute of German Philology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań); Alina Hinc (Department of History, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań); and Prof. Jerzy Kałążny (Institute of German Philology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań). The conference showed that the topic of the Bismarcks is still very much on the agenda, both for researchers and border communities, and that threads related to it should continue to be taken up. The event ended with a study tour following the traces of former residences and foundations of the von Bismarck family from Kulice, through Jarchlino, Konarzewo to Płot.
